V. Integrated Science and Regional Applications

Integrated Science and Regional ApplicationsRegional applications require weather and climate science to be completely integrated with impacts research and decision-making, often in the new perspective of bottom-up, or user-driven, studies. ISSE scientists working on regional scales integrate fundamental research from other ISSE themes, producing integrated assessments, characterizing uncertainty, translating global climate impacts to regional environments, and producing scientific results that better respond to societal needs.

The projects listed below have Integrated Science and Regional Applications as their primary research theme.

"Because the pathway to sustainability cannot be charted in advance, it will have to be navigated through trial and error and conscious experimentation. The urgent need is to design strategies and institutions that can better integrate incomplete knowledge with experimental action into programs of adaptive management and social learning."
