III. Use of Scientific Information in Decision Processes
ISSE's research bridges the gap between atmospheric and related
sciences and societal decisions, by examining how scientific
information is used, and how policy and management decisions are made
with uncertain or incomplete information. ISSE contributes valuable
insights on when, where, and how science can best be part of societal
decisions.
The projects listed below have Use of Scientific Information in Decision Processes as their primary research theme.

| "Because the pathway to sustainability cannot be
charted in advance, it will have to be navigated through trial and error and conscious experimentation. The urgent need is to
design strategies and institutions that can better integrate incomplete knowledge with experimental action into programs of
adaptive management and social learning." |
