| Abstract | A Swiki is a Web site where users can easily create, edit, or link between pages in the system. It is based on the wiki, originally conceptualized by Ward Cunningham. Swiki is a Wiki implementation based on Squeak (Squeak + Wiki = Swiki). The power of the Swiki lies in its simplicity. Any user can edit any page (from within a Web browser) and can create Web documents with a minimum of HTML. Swikis are a UCAR-wide service and are being used in constructing collaborative Web sites such as project web sites, collaborative paper writing, workshops, and other sites where users become contributors to the site. |

| "Because the pathway to sustainability cannot be
charted in advance, it will have to be navigated through trial and error and conscious experimentation. The urgent need is to
design strategies and institutions that can better integrate incomplete knowledge with experimental action into programs of
adaptive management and social learning." |
