| Abstract | NOAA's Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessment (RISA) Program is conducting a number of workshops in regions of the country that currently do not have a RISA center. The purpose is to educate regional researchers and stakeholders about the program, and to explore the potential interest and needs for establishing such centers. Susanne Moser was involved in two of these regional workshops and synthesized the workshop proceedings in reports available from the RISA program. |

| "Because the pathway to sustainability cannot be
charted in advance, it will have to be navigated through trial and error and conscious experimentation. The urgent need is to
design strategies and institutions that can better integrate incomplete knowledge with experimental action into programs of
adaptive management and social learning." |
