Title Weather and Climate Forecasts Use and Value Bibliography
Type Research Project
Abstract This bibliography on the Use and Value of Weather and Climate Forecasts by Roger Pielke Jr. and Roberta Klein (both with Center for Science and Technology Policy Research, formerly of ESIG), and Jennifer Oxelson and Aaron Nutter (University of Colorado) begins the task of providing a single resource for published, peer-reviewed articles on the use and value of weather and climate forecasts. The bibliography was put together based on searches of meteorological and geophysical abstracts, UnCover, and Dialog@CARL, including several journals: Applied Social Science, Chemical Safety, Electric Power Data, Federal News Service, and Thompson Risk Management. The bibliography has moved to Pielke's new website at the Center for Science and Technology Policy Research, (CIRES, University of Colorado, Boulder).

"Because the pathway to sustainability cannot be charted in advance, it will have to be navigated through trial and error and conscious experimentation. The urgent need is to design strategies and institutions that can better integrate incomplete knowledge with experimental action into programs of adaptive management and social learning."
